How to install Aspell

Aspell is Gnu Open Source spell checker. GNU Aspell is ISpell replacement. The suggestion is very intelligent. It is often use as a library in text processor programs. Its provide the best possible suggestion just about any other spell checker such as Ispell and Microsoft Word 97.  Its spell can learn from users misspelling. Its support multiple dictionaries.



Aspell Centos Installation
Download the latest version of Aspell located under "quick links"
Extract the Tar.Gz file to a temporary folder (command tar -xzvf FILENAME)
Enter the Aspell folder and enter the command: ./configure && make
After it finishes enter: make install
Aspell is now installed, however, you still need to install a dictionary


Aspell Centos Dictionary Installation
Download a dictionary from the dictionary FTP site: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/aspell/dict.
Unpack the dictionary in a temporary folder

Enter the folder and enter: sh ./configure

After it's finished enter: make

Finally enter: make install

How to use Apsell?


Type aspell -v to check apell version.


To check for availabe dictionary, type aspell dump dicts
